Conference tour to Connemara or Burren
The conference will offer a choice of a full-day bus tour on Wednesday 27th of June, to either the Connemara region or the Burren. The Connemara tour will include a stop at coral beach (maerl) at Carraroe for seaweed collection and a long stop at the small village of Leenaun on the shores of the beautiful Killary fjord. River walk to nearby Aasleagh Falls and lots of other options to explore local sheep wool or fishery trade. The Burren tour will explore the Wild Atlantic Coast Way, including a stop at the coastal village of Kinvarra (Dunguaire castle), visit to Finavarra beach (seaweed collection), Martello tower, ice cream shop on Flaggy Shore, Corcomroe Abbey and more.

Provisional schedule of Connemara tour
Leave GMIT at 0900, return to Galway at 1800. Packed lunch will be provided. Following the coast road from Galway, the coach bus will bring the group to the coral beach (maerl) at Carraroe where seaweed can be collected under guidance of local expert. The bus will continue its journey through the beautiful mountain ranges of Connemara with a long stop at the picturesque village of Leenaun. Take in the breathtaking sights of the Killary fjord lines with mussel rafts. From the village, it is recommended to take a stroll to the Aasleigh falls on the river Erriff. There will be options to visit local businesses also, such as sheep farm, sheep and wool centre or enjoy a seaweed bath. There is a second beach called Glassilaun, that can be included depending on weather/schedule.
